Nick is Head of Discipline of Endodontics at the University of Otago, New Zealand. He trained in London and following general practice and a hospital post was a lecturer in Manchester for 5 years. Born in New Zealand, he returned in 1987 and completed a London PhD by the external route in 2005.

 Nick has chapters in Harty’s Endodontics, Ingle’s Endodontics and Cohen’s Pathways of the Pulp. He has also contributed chapters to the texts Mineral Trioxide Aggregate: Properties and Clinical Applications and Contemporary Restoration of Endodontically Treated Teeth. Nick has 112 papers in the peer-reviewed journals. In 2016 he was awarded the Alan Docking IADR Science Award by the Australian and New Zealand Division for his outstanding scientific achievements in the field of dental research.

He is on the editorial boards of the Journal of Dentistry and ENDO, and is Editor of the New Zealand Dental Journal.
