Professor Kim graduated from Pusan National University School of Dentistry (PNUD). He finished the Resident program for the specialty of Conservative Dentistry at the Pusan National University Hospital and got his PhD degree at the same University. 

After having 3-year of Navy Doctor service and Private dental practice for 3 years, since 2004, he has been working as a full-time faculty at the Pusan National University School of Dentistry. 

Professor Kim worked at the University of Minnesota Bio-Engineering Laboratory, School of Dentistry, University of Minnesota as a visiting research scholar to study about bone cement, biomaterial and biomechanics during the year 2008. 

He was the Former Chair in the Department of Conservative Dentistry, School of Dentistry. 

Professor Kim had devoted at PNUD as Vice Dean since 2015 for 4 years and then as Dean for 2 years from 2019 to 2021. 

He has published more than 100 articles in the peer review international journals such as Journal of Endodontics, International Endodontic Journals, Australian Endodontic Journal, materials, and Restorative Dentistry & Endodontics, etc. 

Professor Kim is an active member of international endodontic society and now in the position of President at the APEC (Asian Pacific Endodontic Confederation). 

He also works as a Scientific advisory board member for the Journal of Endodontics and a member of Editorial Board of Biomaterial Investigations in Dentistry (BIiD). He also takes the position of Associate Editor for the “European Endodontic Journal”, “Restorative Dentistry & Endodontics" and “Journal of Korean Dental Science”. 

Professor Kim has been actively giving lectures about the contemporary clinical Endodontics and materials based on his research evidence in many countries of global dental societies.
